CSEG Meritorious Service Award Recipient Mike Doyle
Mike Doyle has been involved with the CAGC for almost 20 years. He has been the President of the Canadian Association of Geophysical Contractors (CAGC) for the past 12 years. Prior to that he served on the CAGC Board of Directors for 6 years including two as Chairman after being involved in the CAGC for a couple of years as a member.
The CAGC represents the business of seismic in the Canadian Oil and Gas Industry with a membership of some 200 companies. The CAGC has recently completed its 10th year of Seismic in Motion (SIM) with its partners APEGA, CAPP, CSEG, and Enform promoting safety and technology within the seismic industry as well as promoting career paths into both academic careers and field careers to high school and university students. As an Outreach program SIM has yearly participation by CBE High School students as well as students from SAIT, MRU, and U of C. It has won the CBE’s highest distinction The Lighthouse Award and as well the Mayor’s Excellence Award for Partnerships between Academia and Industry in Calgary.
Born and raised in Fort Nelson, BC, Mike has been around resource industries for most of his life.
Mike attended the University of British Columbia for Commerce. He worked in the Transportation Industry in Vancouver and Toronto before coming out to Calgary joining the Oil and Gas Industry.
Mike has sat on the Boards of the Petroleum Industry Training Service (PITS), Petroleum Safety Council (PSC), and Enform. Mike served as a Director and later as the Chairman for the Petroleum Human Resources Sector Council (PHRSC).
Mike has been involved in his community and his two sons’ sporting activities including being President of the local scouting chapter, and President(s) of 3 youth baseball leagues in the City of Calgary.
Mike has been a member of the CSEG for more than 15 years and in his role as CAGC President has written a column for The RECORDER almost 12 years advocating for both the Geophysical Industry and the Oil and Gas Industry as a whole. In an ever changing world the link between the academic societies and the business societies involved in the same business are paramount to success. The CAGC, CSEG and APEGA exemplify this working relationship.
