Stewart graduated with a BSc in Computer Science in 1979 from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Mathematics in Applied Mathematics in 1984 from the University of Waterloo. Stewart worked for Veritas, Kelman, Furgo and then for CGG. He is currently working for Absolute Imaging as a senior developer and Research Scientist.
Stewart has made multiple contributions to our industry. He was the original architect of “Sage”, the innovative software for seismic data processing used by the Canadian company Veritas. At Kelman he was the original architect of the “Kismet” Seismic processing systems and the invertor of 3 US and Canadian patents on seismic data processing.
He has written articles on noise suppression, stretch-free stacking, wavelet processing and 5D reconstruction. His papers can be found in both peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
On a more personal note, Stewart is a generous geophysicist who shares his knowledge with no hesitation with colleagues and students. He is approachable and always ready to provide excellent advice to students working in the field of seismic data processing.
