Biography

Dr. Deutsch is a Professor in the School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. He teaches and conducts research into better ways to model heterogeneity and uncertainty in petroleum reservoirs. Dr. Deutsch has published eight books and over three hundred research papers. Dr. Deutsch holds the Alberta Chamber of Resources Industry Chair in Mining Engineering and the Canada Research Chair in Uncertainty Management.

Description

The principles of geostatistical reservoir modeling will be covered in lectures and brief demonstrations.  Each participant will gain an appreciation for the variety of geostatistical techniques and tools available to address problems of heterogeneity modeling and uncertainty quantification.  The limitations and assumptions of different methods will be revealed and discussed.
