Mr. Duhault is a Past President of the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG).
Description
This two-day course is designed to inform, educate and enlighten geoscientists and engineers with many of the current geophysical applications that impact all of the upstream oil and gas engineering disciplines. The focus of this course, using case histories, is to illustrate the intrinsic value that a specific integrated geophysical application has on improving operational effectiveness, mitigating risks and increasing profitability all oil field activities.
The course starts with an introduction to applied geophysics fundamentals in order to make the case histories easier to understand for the attendees. The other sections, all case histories, are divided into the oil and gas engineering functions:
- Drilling and Facilities
- Completions and Production
- Reservoir and Reserves
In this course you will learn about the appropriate integrated geophysical technology that will help you:
- Determine the most optimal seismic acquisition program to image your target reservoir
- Determine the most optimal drill pad and facilities locations
- Mitigate drilling risk by minimizing the impact of near surface and shallow drill hazards
- Determine where to land your horizontal wells, effectively and economically, so you know where to land and what to avoid
- Determine the most optimal completion geophysical tool(s) to maximize your completion strategy and understanding: Including fracture complexity, perf efficiencies, depletion, frac hits, reliable SRV etc.
- Determine work flows that will provide reliable production predictability
- Determine the best work flows that will provide the best inputs for reservoir modelling and field development
This course will provide project engineers and geoscientists, with the best tools to optimize their capital expenditures, production potential and EUR reserves, thereby increasing the NPV and success of their team and companies’ assets
Case histories will illustrate applications in unconventional, conventional, oil sands and offshore settings.
